"Sing We Now of Christmas" was the title and opening selection of the Wimberley Community Chorus Christmas Concert
presented December 5th and 6th at 7:30 PM and December 7th at 3:00 PM.
The concert was given at the Chapel in the Hills, 14601 Ranch Road 12
North and there was no admission charge.
The chorus, Jean Wood directing, had chosen a variety of sacred and secular Christmas choral selections to welcome in the holiday season. Traditional carols
included arrangements of "Do You Hear What I Hear," "Carol of the Bells," "Go and Tell John", and "Silent Night." There
was also an eclectic mix of secular pieces such as "Sleigh
Bells," "Merry Christmas, Darling," sung by the ladies of the chorus, and a rousing barbershop arrangement of "Born, Born in
Bethlehem," offered by the men of the chorus. A hand chime choir and flute solo by June Tidwell
complemented the chorus on "What Can I Give Him?"
Chorus soloists selected from the 80-member chorus were: Rose Bethancourt, Jamie Pantermuhl Blythe, Catherine Ford, Jennifer Glisky, John Kuykendall, Amber Martin, Jud Prince, Bob Reed, Alyson Richards, Teresa Ward, and Charles and Susie Youngson.
Pat Fleming from San Marcos accompanied the chorus again this season. Pat directs the Women's Choir at Texas State University and also
supervises TSUSM student teachers in music.
