Wimberley Players

MASQUERADE

A Fundraiser for the
Wimberley Playhouse

Friday, October 29, 2004
7 to 10 PM

Dress the part!

Whatever "character" you wish you could play in life, now's your chance to dress the part! Dream up a costume and reserve your seat at the Wimberley Players Masquerade. The benefit is scheduled for Friday, October 29, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the new Cedar Grove Steak House at the Junction. The Players are planning this major fundraiser for the new Wimberley Playhouse as an evening of intrigue, great food and spirits, music, dancing and entertainment.

The theme of make-believe is a natural for the Players, and it fits exactly with the Playhouse fundraising slogan, "Play a part." Tickets for Masquerade are $85 per person.

Al and Jean sander are co-chairs of the event. "We expect it to be a total fantasy evening with some really wonderful masks and costumes," Jean predicts. " I guess the most talented, creative people can make their own while the rest of us rent ours!" Judges will be on hand to present prizes for the best costumes. For those who are costume-challenged, but want to join in the fun, masks may be purchased at the door.

Guests will enjoy sweeping hill country views from the second floor of the new restaurant, which has been reserved for Masquerade. The party room is handicap accessible and there is an elevator. A gourmet dinner with entrees of Black Angus steak or Very Elegant Chicken will be served, and an open bar will be available.

Both a silent and a live auction, featuring auctioneer David Bisett, will include an array of items-including jewelry, dinners, and weekend getaways, even a kayak. Madame Phonecia, gypsy fortuneteller of mysterious background, will lend her presence to the proceedings. Woody the Wizard will stroll through the revelers, performing magic at the dinner tables.

While Masquerade promises to be fun and frivolous, it also promotes the Players' cause of enhancing and expanding theatre programs for children and families. The sooner the money is raised for the new Wimberley Playhouse, the sooner this can happen, according to the Sanders. "It's part of the Players' plan, because there will enough space to offer additional shows and activities. It will be a performing arts center," said Al. To reserve tickets for Masquerade, please call 847-1592.
