Starlight Symphony Orchestra to Present “Youth, Strength, and Energy”






The first soloist, Sydney Neugebauer, will perform the Carl Maria von Weber Bassoon Concerto, Movements 2 and 3.  Sydney is currently a senior at Dripping Springs High School and has been playing the bassoon for seven years.  She has performed with the high school marching band as a drum major, a soloist with the 5A All-Region band, and with the Starlight Symphony Orchestra for four years.  Sydney is looking forward to attending college in the fall with a double major in bassoon performance and journalism.







The second soloist, Vanessa Turner, will perform the Mozart Konzert A-Dur, Movement One.  Vanessa is a Junior at New Braunfels High School and has participated in the SMART Orchestra of San Marcos, the Starlight Symphony Orchestra, a chamber group organized by Stephanie Raby, and the Region 18 Middle and High School Symphony Orchestras.  This year she was in the TMEA All-State String Orchestra and she was the All-State winner in her division in 2011 and 2012. 
In addition to the outstanding youth solos, the orchestra will perform the Light Cavalry Overture by Franz V. Suppe and the Planets, (Movements I, Mars, the Bringer of War and VI, Uranus, the Magician) by Gustav Holst.

This concert and all SSO concerts are open to the public and free; however donations are appreciated to meet the expenses associated with their performances.  You can learn more about the SSO at their website ( ) as well as sign up for concert notifications.  Come out and show your support for our local volunteer musicians as well as these young solo artists.
