Be sure to come and watch the kids take the stage and wow you with their talent in this musical written by P.G. Wodehouse, Guy Bolton, Russel Crouse, and Howard Lindsay with music and lyrics by Cole Porter.
The plot is familiar to all who love musicals...the S.S. American, sailing from New York to England, carries an unusual group of passengers. Included among them are a gangster, a wealthy debutante, her mother, a nightclub singer, a wealthy New York businessman...and his stowaway assistant. All are involved in a series of comedic happenings that will leave you laughing and your toes tapping!
For instance: A young man falls in love with a beautiful blonde. When he sees her forced onto a luxury liner, he decides to follow and rescue her. However, he discovers that she is an English heiress who ran away from home and is now returning to England. More complications arise when he also finds that his boss is on the ship. To avoid discovery, he disguises himself as the gangster accomplice of a minister, who is, himself, actually a gangster on the run from the law.
Lee Coleé Atnip says about this production, "What makes this production extra exciting to me is teaching the kids to tap dance! With each production I've always tried something new or focused on a particular skill. The kids are amazing, and every year when we raise the bar, they manage to go over it!
"Some of the kids from past productions are now starting to make names for themselves across the country in college and professional productions.
"Many alumni campers return for their fifth and six years of camp, making our boot camp also a reunion of 'family' each year. The parents as well as the kids bond quite tightly! My hope is that everyone will come see Anything Goes!"
