New Wimberley Community Center Celebrates Wimberley with a Grand Opening
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the word; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
- Margaret Mead -

Still receiving finishing touches, the new community center fits perfectly into its Hill Country setting
The Grand Opening of the new Wimberley Community Center was held on Saturday, May 6, 2006 from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. The community center is located at 14070 Ranch Road 12, at the River Road red light.

Friends of the project joined together for the opening of this beautiful gift to the community and to honor the group of committed citizens who turned this dream into a reality. The celebration included food, music, and festivities...the Wimberley way!

The Wimberley Bird Refuge trail invites visitors to wander through, learn, and marvel.
Situated on eight wooded acres, the Wimberley Community Center is more than a building; it offers a total Hill Country experience. The historic Winters-Wimberley House ia only a few steps away, and the Wimberley Bird Refuge Trail begins at its front door.

Space may be reserved for rental, joining other private and organization facilities to make Wimberley one of the most desirable areas in which to hold dances, weddings, banquets, performances, conventions, concerts and gatherings of friends, family, and business associates.

Planning for the center was spearheaded by M.F. and Bill Johnson in 1998. Originally a project begun by Wimberley Senior Citizens Activities, Inc. (WSCAI), the Wimberley Community Center now operates under a joint agreement between the Village of Wimberley and WSCAI, a local 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The two entities joined forces to qualify for a Texas Parks and Wildlife matching grant of $750,000. The Wimberley Community Center will be supported by usage fees and other fund-raising activities.
