The Wimberley Community Chorus in rehearsal for "Christmas in Harmony"
"Christmas in Harmony" is the theme chosen by the Wimberley Community Chorus for concerts presented to celebrate the 2009 holiday season.
Seventy voices strong, the Wimberley Community Chorus is celebrating its 29th year as an outstanding musical voice for the Wimberley Community.
Selections presented at these concerts include Christmas classics, spirituals, jazz and traditional carols - an ethnic mixture of wonderful Christmas and Hannukah favorites.
Soloists include chorus members Catherine Ford, Anne Jones, Grover Mitchell, Laura Russell, and Teresa Ward. Instrumentalists are Rikky Rivers on flute, Ken Davis on drum, and Ken Davis and Dane Heyen on guitar.
Also performing is a small choral Jazz Ensemble. English handbells played by Maggie Bains, Linda Germain, David Morales, and Jody Nicosia will accompany the chorus for that special holiday touch.
Some of the Chorus favorites are Andrew Lloyd Weber's "Pie Jesu," John Rutter's "Blow, Blow Thou Winter Wind," (Shakespeare), "African Star Carol," "The Birthday of a King," and Handel's "And the Glory of the Lord" from the "Messiah."
The Chorus is directed this season by Jean Wood and accompanied by Pat Fleming. There is no admission charge, and the concert is approximately 90 minutes in length with no intermission.
