Wimberley's Corral Theatre Opens 2008 Season with a Benefit for the Wimberley High School Academic Boosters Club Scholarship Fund
Nim's Island opens Corral Theatre season

Wimberley outdoor movie fans and Wimberley visitors can kick off the summer season early by watching a great movie. And their ticket purchases make a significant contribution to the future of some Wimberley students. The Corral Theatre in Wimberley, Texas is showing a first-run movie to benefit the Wimberley High School Scholarship Fund.

Nim's Island, an "eye-dazzling" adventure-fantasy based on the popular book by Wendy Orr, opens the 2008 season with something for everyone with a taste for adventure.

The movie starts at "dark-thirty" on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, May 9, 10 and 11.  All proceeds after expenses will go to the Wimberley High School Academic Boosters Club Scholarship Fund.

Enjoying a movie outside at the Corral Theatre is a unique Wimberley tradition, although Mary Anderson, the owner, is often besieged by those from other places who would like to emulate the experience in another location. The fact is, the success of the Corral Theater is the result of a special combination... the Wimberley evening sky, Mary's cheerful hospitality, the first-run movies she carefully selects, and the movie-goers.

Since the Corral is open only from Memorial Day until Labor Day, this is a pre-season opportunity to grab a lawn chair or two, jump into the car with friends and family, and decamp at the camp for a movie in perfect weather. Carpooling saves money, energy, and makes the whole evening more fun...a Wimberley way of getting there.

Stop off only for popcorn and cool drinks when you arrive, then find a place for the lawn chair (or use one of those provided, if you came early enough) and settle down for a good movie and a memorable experience.

Tickets are $5 per person, and those under 4 or over 85 get in free!

The Corral Theater is located just off Ranch Road 3237 on Flite Acres Road. There's seating on benches and metal chairs or feel free to bring your own folding chairs. Cold drinks and hot popcorn will be available. Come early to avoid the rush.
