The pavilion at Old Glory Ranch

What: Benefit for Victims of Hurricane Ike
When: Saturday, November 1, 2008
Where: Old Glory Ranch, Wimberley, Texas

The Wimberley Players are sponsoring a Hurricane Ike Victim Relief Benefit concert and dance on Saturday, November 1st, 2008. Festivities begin at 6 PM. This event will take place at Old Glory Ranch, who, along with their entire staff, has underwritten their beautiful venue as the perfect backdrop for the fiesta style atmosphere. Proceeds will benefit The Gulf Coast Relief Fund and Galveston's Grand Opera House built in 1894.

Don your most comfortable and festive casual garb and bring your friends (adults only, please) to enjoy Mexican Gourmet Food and an evening of musical entertainment.

Guests will be treated to a "Taste of the Town" by area restaurants and caterers including Linda's Fine Foods, Gourmet Tamales, Sandra's Salsa, Sullivan Street Caterers from Blanco, Pappas Catering from Austin, Cool Mint Caf in San Marcos, Hillsedge Grill and Pub, and Our Lady of the Lunch Catering, all whom have donated their culinary talents. These extraordinary gourmet Mexican flavors will be served at various food stations throughout the evening. All this is for the ticket price of a mere $25.

"There has been a tremendous outpouring of local support for this fundraiser for our Gulf Coast neighbors that are in desperate need," said Players fundraising co-chair, Barbara Alexander. "We really appreciate everyone who has embraced this fundraiser and those who have been so generous - from donating food, to businesses that are offering a variety of items for the raffle and door prizes, to some of the musical entertainers that will be on hand. This is going to be an exceptional event."

Also included in the ticket price is an evening of musical entertainment provided by Doc and the Cruisers, a versatile dance band that covers the musical spectrum. Two anonymous donors have graciously underwritten the group. Other area musicians have offered their talents to perform during the evening, including singer-songwriter Jill Jones and her new trio, Jones and Rogers. Also on tap is Amanda Jones, who has just recently released her first CD.

There are also drop boxes around town for non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Houston Food Bank. Fundraiser guests are asked to bring additional food items with them to help those in need.

The current drop off areas for non-perishable food and toiletry items can be found at the Wimberley View, located at the corner of Ranch Road 12 and FM 3237, and the Wimberley Community Center located at 14305 Ranch Road 12, Monday through Fridays 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Donations are gratefully received, and you are urged to bring items to the event, as well, where they will be collected.

Tickets are for sale at the Wimberley Community Center, Wimberley Visitors Center, the Wimberley View and can also be purchased from any Wimberley Players Board member. No phone sales or reservations are available, however advance ticket purchase is recommended since admission will be on a first-come, first-serve basis until the house is packed.

The evening will include door prizes and super raffle items. Checks may be made out to the Wimberley Players, Inc. listing "Ike Relief Fund" in the "for" box in order to receive the full tax deductible amount allowed by law. The Wimberley Players are a 501-c (3) non profit organization.
