Masquerade 2005, Fundraiser for the Wimberley Players for New Wimberley Players Theatre
|
|
|
Fun, fantasy, fabulous food, live music and a "best of the best" auction!
|
|
|
Masquerade returns to the Hill Country October 16 as the Wimberley
Players' biggest fundraising event of the year. The thespians promise an
evening of fun and fantasy sure to rival last year's highly successful
gala with fabulous food, live music and a Best of the Best live auction.
It's a fund raiser!
Proceeds of Masquerade go to the building fund for the new Wimberley
Playhouse on Old Kyle Road. "This is an opportunity to donate to
an important cause by having a wonderful time at a beautiful party,"
said Barbara Alexander, who is co-chair with Linda Hudson of Masquerade
2005. She added that the new theatre will draw even more patrons from
surrounding communities, with its increased seating and the advantages
of lighted parking, plenty of restrooms and other amenities.
Costumes will be incredible...
As guests arrive for Masquerade 2005, there's sure to be speculation on
who's behind each mask. "Last year, there were some incredible costumes
ranging from glamorous to historical to very creative and homemade,"
said Rob Sandefur, who attended last year with wife Gwen in evening
attire and fancy masks. He added that even a simple mask and a little
"attitude" would qualify as a costume, although most guests go with the
masquerade theme by dressing up.
A gourmet dinner...
Following cocktails, a gourmet dinner will be presented by Linda Allen
Catering. "I think Wimberleyites are always impressed with the superb
food Linda provides for our important parties and she has outdone
herself for Masquerade," said Lynn Adelson, a member of the committee
who reviewed menu possibilities. All Masquerade tables will be in the
main hall, with convenient serving lines. An open bar will be available
to the diners.
Music and dancing...
Austin's Slim Richey's Dream Band will provide music for dancing and/or
easy listening. The group has generously discounted its fee to aid the
Playhouse building fund.
Best of the Best auction...
David Bisett, popular Wimberley Players director/actor, will serve as
master of ceremonies and auctioneer. The Players aren't revealing all
of the items gathered for their Best of the Best Live Auction, but they
will say bidders can vie for the Party of the Year-a private 2006
performance by the Wimberley Players for 126 guests followed by a
champagne reception, all in the new Playhouse. Also at auction will be
a week's stay in a luxury home in Pagosa Springs. (offered for the first
time in Wimberley), and a miniature donkey donated by Old Glory Ranch.
The underwriters...
Gold Category underwriters
include Jim and Judy Thompson, Deborah Elliott and Pat Davis, Camille
Cook and Siri Hutcheson, Barbara Alexander and Linda Hudson. Silver
Category sponsors are Mary Ross Taylor and Ginny Galtney, Century
21-Hill Country Properties, Al and Jean Sander, Deer Creek of
Wimberley, Wimberley View, and Wells Fargo Bank NA. Liquor is being
generously discounted by Twin Liquors.
