Mark Saturday, the 11th of April on your calendars as a "canít miss" activity as WIC combines the best pies in South Texas, headline entertainers, historic exhibits, and much more to kick off spring with the biggest pie social ever. Pie Social Chairperson and WIC President, Tinka Eoff, urges the entire Wimberley community to attend and have great fun.
The event starts at 11 in the morning and ends at 3 in the afternoon. In between, there will be pie judging and a pie auction, as well as four one-hour concerts, historical exhibits, and demonstrations by a blacksmith. Sara Holland, the Herb Lady, will have herbs for sale and will give a demonstration on Herb Container Gardening. An art display will be on the terrace. Inside the Winters-Wimberley House an exhibit featuring photos of the Zach House taken in 1911 will be featured, with photos of Zach's children collected from descendants as far away as Australia.
Six tickets (for only $5.) can be used for a grilled hotdog, a slice of pie and a drink. Additional tickets can be purchased for extra slices of pie ($3), hot dogs ($2) and drinks ($1). All proceeds benefit WIC and its historic preservation projects.
Raffle tickets are available for a weekend at a condo in Port Aransas during the Columbus Day weekend beginning October 16, 2009, a Friday-to-Monday stay.
The event highlights include a noon auction of all the winning pies. To enter a pie, bring it to the W-W House by 10 a.m. for judging. You may pick up an entry form at the Wimberley Visitors Center or at Kiss The Cook in downtown Wimberley.
