TxDOT Open Houses Seek Public Input on Ranch Road 12 North Improvements September 26th and 28th
Deja vu on RR 12. Although another construction project for RR 12 going north has not yet been finalized, this scene from September 8th is a familiar one to Wimberley drivers.
Road construction in the Wimberley area has significantly impacted area businesses and quality of life for residences for the last few years. Now, in addition to an announced project on RR 12 between San Marcos and Wimberley, a new proposal will reopen construction on the 14 miles between Wimberley and Dripping Springs, one of the only two major routes to Austin.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Austin District, in cooperation with Hays County, will hold an open house to obtain public input on proposed improvements to RR 12 from US Highway 290 in Dripping Srprings to the north end of Joe Wimberley Dr. in Wimberley. The stated purpose of the roadway improvements is to provide improved public safety and to meet the area's future transportation needs.

Two open houses will be held, one in Wimberley and one in Dripping Springs.  The format will be "open forum."  No formal presentation will be give, but staff from TxDOT, Loomis Austin and Hays County will be on hand to answer questions and explain the proposed project.

The Wimberley open house will be Tuesday, September 26 from 6 to 8 PM at the VFW Hall, 401 Jacobs Well Road. The Dripping Springs meeting will be on Thursday, September 28 from 6 to 8 PM at the Dripping Springs High School cafeteria.

Exhibits that will be on display at the open houses are available for review prior to the events at the TxDOT Austin District, 7901 North IH-35 or at the south Travis area office located at 2800 South IH-35, Suite 100.

Verbal comments will be accepted at the open houses, and written comments will be accepted at the open houses and through October 9, 2006. Comments may be mailed to Tracy Bratton, Loomis Austin, Inc., 3103 Bee Cave Road, Suite 225, Austin, TX 78746.  FAX: 512-327-4062.
