Susan Gibson Performs at Susanna's Kitchen in Wimberley
|
|

From wide open spaces to outer space, Susan Gibson shows herself to be a one of a kind, genuine, down to the roots example of a Texas troubadour.

Susan Gibson brings her clear vocals to Susanna's Kitchen in Wimberley, Texas on Thursday, October 20, 2005.
Having written one of the best-selling country songs of all time, "Wide
Open Spaces" recorded by the Dixie Chicks, Susan Gibson's claim to fame
may well be her songwriting. On stage her delivery is as heart-felt as
her inspiration.
With the release of her current CD, Outer Space, Gibson continues to
deliver broad-shouldered, tough and tender vocals and insightful
glimpses into human nature. The new album, her edgiest work to date,
stretches her roots-rock boundaries as if they were nothing more than
state lines on a road map.
Released
July 2005, the album also includes a
live version of the Gibson-penned "Wide Open Spaces," which Dixie
Chicks propelled into one of the all-time best-selling country songs.
Balancing writing and performing is easy for Gibson, whose live shows
draw a steady stream of fans including some who travel miles to see
show after show.
Susan Gibson is always happiest on the move. Even though she's settled
into a home in the Texas Hill Country, she still puts upwards of 60,000
miles a year on her customized Freightliner van. And her latest trip
to satisfy that travelin' itch is Outer Space.
From wide open spaces to outer space, Susan Gibson shows herself to be
a one of a kind, genuine, down to the roots example of a Texas
troubadour.
"Ms. Gibson . . . possesses clear, crisp, bold pipes. Her vocals have a
rough edge that is tempered by a potent senst of melody. When she
sings, you can see her body surge with energy. She's pulsating with
every word."
