The Starlight Symphony Orchestra resumes rehearsals for the 2006-2007 season.  The first rehearsal is on January 4, 2007. Rehearsals take place Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 PM in Wimberley at the Wimberley Junior High School band hall.

Any players interested in joining the orchestra may contact the orchestra's personnel manager, Pat Surguy, at 512-858-0324. The orchestra is open to advanced students through adults. Openings in various sections vary so call for current needs.

The orchestra will perform two more concert programs in the current season. Coming up in March are the Young Artist Showcase concerts which feature the two Young Artist Solo Competition Winners, selections by the Starlight Symphony Youth Orchestra and a number of wonderful pieces by the full symphony.

The last concerts of the season will be the Pops Concerts, "Screen Works," with a variety of music from film, TV and computer screens, including video game music.

The Starlight Symphony Orchestra serves communities in Hays County and surrounding areas, including Wimberley, Driftwood, Dripping Springs, Oak Hill, Buda, Kyle, Lockhart, San Marcos, Canyon Lake, Blanco, and Johnson City. It was formed to provide Central Texas musicians with a cultural and social gathering opportunity where players can meet and work together and communities with entertainment by high quality musicians, and social events at which like-minded people can assemble. The orchestra also provides opportunities for students to play with an orchestra, giving them the experiences of working with a conductor, learning a part, playing with a full complement of instruments, understanding orchestral literature, and performing for the community.
