Experience "Tranquility and Unity" with the Starlight Symphony Orchestra
This November audiences have the opportunity to experience the Starlight Symphony Orchestra in a more intimate setting. Their next performance will be up close and personal with small ensembles performing chamber music that will bring a measure of tranquility to our otherwise hectic lives. This concert will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 7:00 pm at the Hays Performing Arts Center, 979 Kohler's Krossing, in Kyle, TX; and again on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 4:00 pm at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 6000-A FM 3237, Wimberley, TX.
This performance will include The Holberg Suite by Edvard Grieg. This piece is a charming suite of five movements based on eighteenth century dance forms written to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Danish-Norwegian humanist playwright Ludvig Holberg. Also being performed is a Serenade for Winds in D minor, Op. 44 by Dvorak. This Serenade evokes an old-world atmosphere of musical performances in castles of the period. Continuing with the same theme, they will also perform Mozart's Serenade No. 10, "Grand Partita", K. 361. This piece has been described as "virtually an 'operatic' ensemble of passionate feeling and sensuous warmth." We couldn't agree more. Plan to attend this performance to hear these and other beautiful works and to show support for this exceptional Hill Country symphony orchestra.
The Starlight Symphony Orchestra is comprised of all volunteer musicians and the concerts are free and open to the public. Donations are always welcomed and appreciated to meet the expenses associated with concerts and performances.
