Citywide cleanup is tomorrow
Tomorrow is the annual citywide cleanup day in Wimberley. The event is sponsored by the Lions Club of Wimberley and Keep Wimberley Beautiful along with the City of Wimberley and Texas Disposal Services.
From 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., crews, a dumpster and garbage truck will be stationed at the Lions Field parking lot in the 700 block of FM 2325 to collect items. To take part in the event, you must be a resident of the city of Wimberley and a current customer of TDS.
Couches, mattresses, appliances and other bulky items, included limited quantities of brush will be accepted at the collection site. Household batteries, chemicals, empty drums, fluorescent light bulbs, paints, pesticides, thermostats, solvents/gasoline and other hazardous waste and tires will not be accepted.
Two important meetings next week
On Tuesday, April 22, AT&T and American Tower representatives will hold a public workshop to discuss their proposed 105-foot cell tower at the US Postal Service's Wimberley Post Office. Their purpose is to explain their plans and to get a sense of public opinion on the project. The workshop is from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center.
On Wednesday, April 23, the city will host an informational meeting on the proposed road bond issue and accompanying property tax that will appear on the May 10 city election ballot. The nature of the meeting is informational. City officials will be present to provide information and to answer questions about the proposal.
Early voting begins Monday, April 28
Early voting for the city's May 10 election of two council members and mayor and special bond election begins on Monday, April 28. All voting is at the Wimberley Community Center.
