The Wimberley Valley Art League (WVAL) presents, with additional support provided by The Rotary Club of Wimberley and Arts From the Heart, the First Annual Student Art Exhibit at their Gallery in the Wimberley Community Center.  The exhibit, featuring the work of 97 local 3rd through 12th graders, will be on display from June 13th, 2008 until July 28, 2008. The Opening Reception and Celebration will be held on Friday, June 13th, 5 to 7 PM at the Gallery. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided. The reception is open to the public and the entire community is invited to attend.

Valerie Meek, director of Arts from the Heart, enthusiastically describes the content of the entries as follows, "This special exhibit by our youth makes it very clear how important art and creative expression is to them. There is incredible diversity of subject matter and media. These young artists do not seem impacted by how others might perceive their art, they seem to create purely and spontaneously for their own expression and that is evident in their art and accompanying artist statements." Students from WISD, Katherine Ann Porter, St. Stephen's, Parkside, Arts From the Heart and home schools all contributed to the exhibit.
The reception features entertainment by the All in Blues Band. This group, known for providing great dancing music, is a dynamic Blues band comprised of four musicians from the Katherine Ann Porter High School. The musicians include Adam Johnson on guitar and vocals, Curtis Clogston on guitar, Jacob Christian on base, and Briane Willis on drums. Those attending the reception are encouraged to bring their dancing shoes.

The art league exhibit will be open to the public every weekday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM and on weekends whenever the Community Center is in use.

Come enjoy this community celebration of our youth's creative expressions and talents!!!
