ARTS FROM THE HEART HOME   ||   SCHEDULE

 

2006-2007 SCHOOL YEAR PROGRAMS
(This is last published schedule and offered here as an example of activities offered by Arts for the Heart.)

Additional workshops, student art exhibits and opportunities to attend major performance events will be announced throughout the year
as they become available.

We do not charge tuition or material supply fees for any of our programs. Arts From The Heart workshops fill very quickly, so we encourage parents to apply as early as possible if their children are interested in participating.

Visual Art Workshops


2nd grade students:
Art workshops for approximately 120 second graders will be held during school hours at Scudder Elementary at various times during the school year. The first series of workshops are scheduled on Oct. 4th, 5th, and 6th.

3rd - 5th grade students:
- Tuesdays: 11/2 hour after school art workshop series held at the Bowen School from 3:15-4:45 begins on October 3rd. Enrollment information: After school class size at this grade level is limited to 35 students per day.
- Wednesdays: 11/2 hour after school art workshops held at the Bowen School from 3:15-4:45 begins on October 4th. Enrollment information: After school class size at this grade level is limited to 35 students per day. 

6th - 8th grade students: 
Thursdays: 11/2 hour after school art workshop series held at Danforth Jr. High from 3:15-4:45 begins on October 5th. A fi
eld trip to a local art gallery or artist studio will also be scheduled. Enrollment information: After school class size for junior high students is limited to 20 students per week.


Dance Workshops

3rd - 12th grade students:
Wednesdays: 11/2 hour after school art workshops series held at Danfroth Jr. High from 3:30-5:00 begins on October 11th . Instruction will primarily focus on contemporary dance movement and choreography and will also include a history of each particular dance genre. Enrollment information: This workshop series is limited to 30 students.


Major Performance Event Field Trips

9th - 12th grade students: 
Through our special Outreach Partnership with the University of Texas Performing Arts Center, we provide complimentary tickets and transportation for older students to attend major Cultural Art performances that they otherwise might not have the financial means to attend. This year's offerings will be announced in late September. Past performance event field trips have included Martha Graham Ballet, Ornette Coleman Jazz Concert, The Neville Brothers, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Peter Paul, & Mary Concert, Thoroughly Modern Millie musical, US Poet Laureate Billy Collins,
Yamato, Delfos Contemporary Dance, Ensemble Bartók de Chile, and others.


Student Art Exhibits

3rd - 8th grade students:
Arts From The Heart believes that encouraging and facilitating youth to become involved with their community through their artistic endeavors benefits them and enriches community life. This year we are scheduling students art exhibits at the following locations:
The Wimberley Village Library, Bowen Intermediate Library, and the Wimberley Institute of Cultures Pie Social.
