The Orphan Train movement was a supervised welfare program that sent children whose parents had died or were homeless to foster homes in the rural Midwest. The Orphan Train Movement relocated about 200,000 abandoned, homeless or orphaned children. The relocation of children ended in the 1920-s with the beginning of what came to be known as foster care. You will be spellbound by some of the stories.
