After the most rainfall
for this time of year on record in Wimberley, there were those who
wondered if a parade could happen at all. But the theme for the
parade in 2007 was "Spirit of Wimberley," and that was
displayed in abundance with enthusiastic attendance, complete with
umbrellas, and entertaining participants.
The crowd was rewarded
with a variety of entries, including the usual, creative entries
from the Texas Master Naturalists, the
Wimberley Rotary Club, the Wimberley Lions Club, Hays County CERT,
the popular Shrine clowns, Keep Wimberley Beautiful, and many, many
more. The 2007
parade kicked off a long weekend of fun in Wimberley to celebrate
the 4th of July. The parade was followed by a Jubilee, this year
under the protective cover of the Lions Pavilion, and the VFW Pro
Rodeo runs from Thursday through Saturday evenings. Wimberley Market
Day is the perfect activity for Saturday morning (and afternoon). By
the time visitors return home, and residents return to work, the holiday weekend
will provide another memorable
experience from wonderful Wimberley.
