If that works for you, you obviously don't count civilian casualties and a destroyed country. Ask an Iraqi family how they feel, mothers and children, you big bad dude, you.

You fit the ultra-right profile to a T. Heavy consumption, disregard for the rights of others and absolute conviction you are right and the facts are wrong. This president took us into a war nobody wants for reasons personal to him, Rumsfeld, Cheney and Wolfowitz, using our tax dollars and cutting medicare and other vital programs to pay for it. He has lied and has authorized torture. It was a shameful day for America when he took the office.

I was there. I went willingly... and as the Army is still all volunteer and meeting its enlistment goals each year.... everyone in there is also a volunteer.

This is the lowest loss ratio of personnel for any war in recent history. Where were all these whiners when 8000 died in one day on the shores of Normandy? 2500 in 3 years is amazingly good. During my first tour, I was told my life expectancy in war was in minutes or hours... and I signed up.

Talk to someone that has been there and find out if it has been working... you see the gore on TV because it sells. There is less and less of it because there is less and less over there. Cut and run works great.... it will become an Iranian state.

Sign up, hop a plane for a visit, or stop complaining.

God bless you, Hopsbarly, and thank you for your service.

The people of this country do not see what is really going on in Iraq. They only see what the media allows to be shown on TV. The American people do not get to see the good the US Military men and women are doing and the efforts that they are putting forth to bring Iraq into Democracy. Yes, there will be casualities of war, and that is unfortunate, however where would the US be be if the Nazis would have taken over in WWII. And the USA would not even be the country that it is today if it wasn't for the soliders of the Revolutionary War. Going to war is never an easy decision for the President or his advisors, we do not know all the information the President has been given. We only hear what the media chooses to tell us. Having been the wife of a former US Army Officer, I can tell you its not easy for these men and women to leave their families not knowing if they will return from war or not; But they go willingly because they believe in the country they serve to protect. You and I and all Americans have the rights and freedoms that no other country in this world enjoys thanks to the sacrifices our US military men and women make every day and I think you should be grateful for their time and service. You can never know what its like to be in a war until you have experienced for yourself, nor can you have an idea what their families go though each day that their soldiers are gone! This July 4th I think everyone should really think about what this holiday means. Be thankful and greatful that we live in such a great country of democracy, allowing all of us to enjoy the freedoms and liberty that we have. You should thank our men and women serving in all branchs of the military and their families and thank our veterans for thier service and sacrifice!

Wimlife, this subject sure went veering off in a weird direction. I guess it's hard to talk about presidencies and not get hot about what Bush has done with his turn.

A couple of right wingers get into the fray and try to flip objections to this war of choice and the tragedy caused by it, turning them into "not supporting" the troops. Talk about reversing the meaning of something. With this kind of un-communication it's no wonder people are so divided about the ruin wracked by a selfish administration's grab for power.

Here it is. Nobody is against the troops. We all support the poor guys and gals that get sucked into that deal. They were shafted too, with agreements broken by this administration right and left. May they all come home healthy in mind and body, a futile hope for too many.

This war and this presidency has dragged our country into the mud. Want to recall the Nazi treatment? See the revelations finally coming out about how many medical personnel were complicit in torture and lies with the bad military types in charge of prisioners, authorized from the top by Rumsfeld. Check your facts, Hopsbarly. It's understandable if you don't. It would break your heart to learn what you were really supporting instead of the high ideals we all had hoped for and were getting sold. My sympathy is with you in your ordeal. You are victim just as the innocent Iraqui civilians are.

Troops, yes.
Our soldiers, yes.
Democracy, yes.
This war, no.
Torture as a new low standard, no.
Administration trampling the law, no.
This president, disastrous.
