Congratulations, Liz. Smart move. Dogs are definitely best for that nonjudgmental unconditional love thing. There's nothing like the joy of coming home to somebody who really appreciates you, no matter what. Anybody who lines up for a human partnership with you now will have to measure up, if you feel like bothering with that. Anyway it's a well known fact that a good pet is better for your health than a bad marriage. I think I'll go pat my dog now. And two cats.

Hi, Liz, You're probably overwhelmed with friends by now, but a couple of neat things coming up this weekend might appeal to you (and anybody) Can't guarantee single people, necessarily, but know you'd be welcome as the sun at the preparations for the bird sanctuary on Saturday. (For details see the posting in Animals & Wildlife). Also, the FolkFest dancing is fun, same night, VFW. And the Wimberley Valley Watershed Association is a group with a purpose we can all believe in. Check it out at: www.visitwimberley.com/water/index.htm Oh. And if you like to sing, the Community Chorus welcomes members: www.visitwimberley.com/chorus Just a few ideas for starters... Having folks like you here is what makes Wimberley so great. Liz: This is an old post, I realize, but if you're still wondering about how to meet singles (mature, over 40), a few suggestions:If you have joined a church, see if you can sponsor a Singles Night at the church, with dontations being taken for coffee and cookies, or whatever. I know from before I got married a few years ago that when I lived in Wimberley and was single, it was difficult to get to know other adult singles. They are out there, and likely as eager as you to find contemporaries, but sometimes I guess it takes someone organizing a group to get something going. Where I lived before, there was a singles group that met once per week at a different area restaurant for dinner. It was organized by two single ladies who found, to their amazement, that they drew quite a crowd of singles when they advertised in the local newspaper. Lots of people don't want to hit the bar scene, but do want to connect to others in the same situation. So, just a few ideas and if you haven't already met up with other singles, perhaps try one of the above. You may just start something rolling here in Wimberley. quote: Originally posted by Liz: Are there any organizations or activities designed for meeting other single people in Wimberley.
