Did anyone know that a meeting regarding the school bond took place on Monday evening (2/27/06)? I heard about it from a friend who saw a man standing down at the town square holding a sign announcing the meeting. I am new to town and have a child in Jr High and I would like to get some information/thoughts from those who have lived in Wimberely for a while as to what is going on with the school bond. I sense the frustration of many concerned residents who have school aged children or not and am wondering what can we do as a community to try to get the WISD administration and School Board to hear the concerns of the Wimberley residents. All of us. What can we do as a community to get better communication regarding the school bond. Any suggestions/comments. [This message has been edited by Tina (edited March 01, 2006).]

Huh? Meeting - held by who? I don't think it's any type of official WISD meeting, but I am curious what it might have been.--Actually, after reading Wednesday's View, it looks like there was a meeting. Funny, it's, not posted on the WISD website (calendar). I suppose that doesn't totally surprise me. [This message has been edited by Mr Chievous (edited March 02, 2006).]

Glad to know I was not the only one surprised. I sent the superintendent and email regarding this surprise meeting and the way it was advertisted. I asked her why there was such poor planning on WISD and the school board. I stated to her if WISD's goal is to inform the community about what is being planned for the new schools etc.....It would benefit all if proper notification would be given. I suggested that WISD inform the parents of school age children by sending home a flyer or via email. I also suggested to her to place flyers in high visable places, such as the grocery store, ACE and Kings. I have yet to get a response from her. quote: Originally posted by Mr Chievous: Huh? Welcome to Wimberley, Tina. We can be a vibrant community at times. It appears WISD complied with the Open Meetings Act to the letter by posting in the View. It could be questioned whether they complied with the spirit of the community by not updating their website. Anyway, I have noticed that school board mtgs are always posted on the sign adjacent to the administration building on RR12. If you happen to drive by frequently, this is helpful. Hopefully, the superintendent will take your suggestions to heart.

I guess I should subscribe to the Wimberley View. Didn't realize that most of the information is placed in the newspaper. Well, I am new here and am beginning to learn my way around. Thank you for the suggestion. I certainly hope WISD administration and the school board will take the comments and concerns of the community to heart. quote: Originally posted by contributor: Welcome to Wimberley, Tina. I saw the "sign". I only saw ONE sign. The man sitting on the tailgate of his truck with the sign. Unfortunately, it was 5:00p and we couldn't make it. I'm not even sure if the man was part of WISD's intent to "get the word out" or just a helpful, concerned citizen. I don't remember seeing it posted on RR 12 and with all the construction, the board should realize that they may not be seen. HHMMM! I still have my Wimberley View from Sat. Feb. 25th. I'd sure like to know where WISD's notification is, I can't find it. The fact is ALOT of people don't get the View as their standard paper. This is typical of WISD NOT to properly get the word out to the community. These are the types of problems that have already been told to WISD, but they still don't hear us. It doesn't surprise me that you haven't heard from the superintendent. Don't expect to, ever. I never did.[This message has been edited by Blax (edited March 07, 2006).]
