Does anyone know of any wireless internet servers in Wimberley? I've heard that the community center is going to have one one. Is it there yet? Any others?

There are two that I know of:
Texas wireless txwinet.com for about $30 per month you get about 1Mb service. They don't charge an up front fee for equipment but have routers etc. for a charge. This is what I use and I am very pleased.

The other is anvilcom.com, their site lists $49 per month with $399 up front for equipment plus any additional wiring, routers etc.

Both of these require line of site to one of their antennas so you may or may not be able to get service. I could not get service from anvil where I live but I could with tx wireless.

Another option is a cell modem. I use one from cingular on my laptop and if you have cell signal then you have internet. It is about 100Kb speed at my house and you can get packages for around $45 per month and this will work anywhere so you can take it with you and stay conneted.

One other thing to note: Stay away fron any NetGear hardware. I have installed several systems and they are a pain to configure and don't last and they have all been replaced with Linksys routers. No setup, just plug the network in and cycle the power.
