Memorial Day weekend, this Saturday and Sunday at 8pm will be a rodeo benefitting the Wimberley 4H club. There will be BBQ, shaved ice, cotton candy and of course a GREAT rodeo to enjoy. Tickets (10 adults/$5 children) are available at the visitor's center or at the gate (box seats still available as well).Come enjoy another great rodeo, 4H uses the proceeds to directly support the kid's livestock show projects and all the 4H kids really appreciate your support. Thanks to the VFW for the use of their grounds, the traditional Wimberley Fourth of July Rodeo will be held as always, so support both the VFW and 4H by attending BOTH of these great rodeos.

It's hard for me to get excited about rodeos. Glance at the links, if you have a strong stomach.http://www.sharkonline.org/?P=0000000624 http://www.animalliberation.org.au/rodeos.php http://www.peta.org/factsheet/files/FactsheetDisplay.asp?ID=69 http://www.bucktherodeo.com/injured.html http://wildatheartanimals.blogspot.com/

You are certainly welcome to your opinion and I respect your convictions. I can assure you that I am a patron of many many rodeos and other horse related events over the years and I have never witnessed anything even remotely similar to what you have linked. It isn't the commonality that articles like this would make it appear. The Wimberley 4H club would appreciate the community's support and frankly it frustrates me to post here looking for support for the kids and receive this type of slam. A lot of hard working families have poured their hearts into this rodeo and we're hoping for a nice turnout.

It seems the weather is coming down on the side of the animals this weekend unless the rodeo company doesn't care about how slippery and dangerous the arena is. Can't be much fun sitting watching in thunderstorms anyway. I'm all for the 4H club but I have to say there are a lot better ideas for fund raisers out there than this one. Back to the drawing board next year people?

Slam? I said nothing against Wimberley 4H. I stated my personal, individual misgivings about rodeo and posted some links to raise awareness about things that happen to some rodeo animals.

We can only hope that the human species will become more aware of what they do to the other living inhabitants on this planet and adjust their thoughless ways accordingly-before it's too late.
