Hello, My family and I are moving to Wimberley in September. I have four kids, one being 3 1/2 years old, and am interested in finding a MDO/preschool program for her. Currently, she attends a three, half-day program at a Methodist church (we live in Beaumont). I have found two programs, one at First Baptist and the other at Wimberley UMC. Also, the preschool program at St. Stephens. Does anyone have kids that are enrolled in any of these programs or can anyone offer any information on them?Thank you, Tina Stanley

I have my 3-1/2 year old son enrolled at the Methodist MDO three days a week. It's a wonderful program. They will be offering four days a week this fall, if there is enough interest. The Methodist MDO is licensed thru the state, has regular inspections and the teachers are required to have training. The is a teacher and a teacher's aide in every classroom. The director very easy to work with, is great with the kids and has been there a long time. If you are interested in this program, sign up ASAP, it fills up quickly.I have also had my son in the Baptist KDO program. It is only two days a week (Tuesdays & Thursdays). It's a good program but not a licensed operation...no inspections or training, etc. But it is cheaper than the Methodist Church. There is also Parkside Community School which is a montessori school here in Wimberley. I've heard good things about them and they take ages 3-12. They are like regular public school, five days aweek. Use this website to checkout the licensed childcare here in Wimberley or anywhere in Texas: http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/child_care/search_texas_child_care/ppFacilitySearchDayCare.asp [This message has been edited by jayo (edited July 19, 2007).]

Thanks so much for the information. If you don't mind, I have a few more questions. At what age did you start your kids at the UMC MDO? I have 8 month old triplets who will be almost 10 months before we move to Wimberley. If I decide to enroll my 3 year old in the UMC MDO (I currently have her enrolled in the Baptist KDO program) I might check into enrolling them (if they have room for everyone!!) Also, I see the main difference in being a licensed versus nonlicensed facility is the required inspections and training of the workers. Is that correct as far as you know? The idea of 3 days is appealing to me as that is what we do now. I have placed a call into Wimberley UMC to see if they have openings. Thanks again for the information.
