I am curious to know what you all think about the town of Wimberley? We have visited Wimberley numerous times and loved it, and we are wanting to relocate, and had chosen Wimberley as one of the towns that we thought we would enjoy living in, it is such a quaint little town. Also, what is the school district like there; on a scale of 1-10 what rating would you all give it? The only thing that we noticed about Wimberley is their high property taxes. Are all areas close to Wimberley in comparison to Wimberley as far as the property taxes are concerned? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

It says Baytown, XIIthMan. I don't know about the schools (as I moved here after my children were LONG grown), but I think of a story I once heard:A man drives into a gas station (they said "filling station" when I was told this story, which is obviously old) and the attendant was asked, "Hey, what kind of town is this? The people seem nice, and the town seems to be great!" The attendant said, "Well, what kind of town do you live in now?" "Oh", said the tourist, "the people are so friendly where I live and the town is terrific!" "Wellll", said the attendant, "that's how it is here, too!" The next tourist who came along asked the same question. "Well, what kind of town do you live in now?" asked the attendant again. "Well, the people are rude, and the town is nasty and I hate it!" "Wellll, it's just like that here, too" said the attendant. A town is what you make of it. Yes, Wimberley is charming, but it is less of a true town than some. It is a tourist town, and that makes it quaint, unique and a bit out of the ordinary. Townsfolks cannot afford to shop in most of the shops in the square, especially the new upscale ones. We all go to ACE and Brookshire Brothers, but it is hard to find the kinds of things one can find in a larger town or city. I have to drive to San Marcos for clothing, office supplies and some of the brands of groceries I am used to. Those kinds of things can get frustrating. On the other side of the coin, the people at the small library get to know you after a while, and the people in ACE and Brookshires do, too. Can't say that about WalMart. With children, you will find people with that in common easier than someone who is middle aged and seeking something to do. There is so much to think about, but I can say this: it is a far cry from Baytown and the beauty here is magnificent. Just weigh your options and make the best decision all around. It is good to consider a neighborhood if you have children and there is Woodcreek (a city of sorts onto itself, but not really), and other developments going up. People who want privacy tend to live out on converted ranches and acreage, some with fences keeping even the neighbors out. It's a different way of living for me. I like neighborhoods, but live on 10 acres because we like the nature. I miss friendly neighbors, however. Anyway, whatever you decide, best wishes. And if you choose to come here, welcome.
