It's really sad how politics has become so ugly. It's not about open discussion of important issues. It's about who can be uglier and meaner.

It is ugly out there these days. Not about politics at all, more about trying to reach new levels of nastiness.I heard a news analyst this morning saying that even most Republicans are trying to distance themselves from these kinds of nuts encouraged by extremist so-called "Tea Party" self-serving interests. This makes my stomach turn. The worst of human nature. But it looks like LaRouche has been promoting this sickness for years. He started rumors telling people to watch out or this administration would put your sister in a gas oven. Yeech. How anyone could credit his beliefs is incredible. The guy is nearly 90 years old. You'd think by this time he'd be able to look at the world with more understanding, but some people don't get better as they age as I do, I guess. Nastiness and rudeness seems to be the mode. I recently went to Canada and was struck at how genuinely kind and nice everyone was. The minute I left and went through U.S. Customs, the rudeness level was elevated 50%. It was really depressing. I'm not saying everyone is rude but it was very noticeable.

Wonder if this isn't illegal on government property? In any event it likely is out of compliance with Wimberley's restrictions on signs. Hope he is gone before the media gets wind of it and paints us all as a bunch of idiots.

I need to pop in and see this guy. Maybe if all Americans were intelligent enough to know,"that who ever became president after the last election was in for a NO-WIN situation"! And I didn't even vote for the guy! AND YES! He is a citizen of the USA and was born in Hawaii! The INTERNET has started more BS in the last 10 years then the last 230 some years combined. Problem with America is that we can't find any Good Honest People worth electing! All the good ones have skeletons in their closet and loads of secret indiscretion's that only their cronies know about. What gets me is that in the last 10 years we have had 2 Vietnam Vets who served their country, no matter how they served, THEY SERVED chewed to Hell and back by opponents who didn't and wouldn't serve their country at all, "They had better things to do" a few DUI's among them and Lord knows what else? I hope the young kids who served or are serving today that decide to run for any office don't face the same BS as the Past Veterans have. It's very humiliating and Disgusting. If you didn't agree with any of the policies of the Administration, They labeled you UNAMERICAN! Talk about doing one thing and saying another! Citizens who didn't/wouldn't serve their country calling Veterans who did serve their country, UNAMERICAN! AHHH! Ludicrous and Embarrassing and just plain Hurtful to a Veterans who have served OUR Country. Policy change, every person who graduates from high school serves 2-3 years at either Military service or some other service to their Country, let it be Peace Corps or some Organization that we help our own citizens here in the USA first, before we help out any Country/People overseas! Male or Female, NO MATTER WHO YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER IS! NO MATTER YOUR FAMILIES INCOME OR SOCIAL STATUS or religion! That's it plain and simple no excuses! It makes for a more level playing field as Americans. Just some of the views of one of the local Wimberley area citizens. Thank You ..................Now to go see that guy at the Post Office! AWWWWW!!!!

It is specifically allowed on Federal property as long as it is peaceful and orderly, etc. and fed land/free speech trumps any local ordiances - as long as on said property

One of the Gentleman said they decided to come up from Houston and bother/protest up here where we are all RICH AND REPUBLICAN. I told him I was neither, just and old retired Sgt. from the Army. Asked if he served his country, didn't get an answer from him and a guy walked by and he said he was busy talking to supporters. He said he wanted Franklin Roosevelt ways and there was a Larousse (Sp) sign too.........ALONG WITH THE PICTURE OF OBAMA WITH A HITLER MUSTCAHE, asked him again if he served under a Commander-in Chief, he didn't answer again, I told him he needed to THANK ALL THE VETERANS COMING IN AND OUT OF THE POST OFFICE, as they were the reason that he has the right to protest when and where he does because of them! He didn't say anything again! If it weren't for Veterans we might all be sporting Hitler Mustaches! Kind of a symmetry there? People from the Main Post Office in Austin were coming down. AHHHHHH! AMERCIA..............GOTTA LOVE IT!![This message has been edited by gslick7511 (edited August 27, 2010).] [This message has been edited by gslick7511 (edited August 27, 2010).]

Thanks from me too gslick. For both.Tbase, are you sure you weren't the guy with the sign? (joke) Hard to be rational and defend that kind of nuttiness. Last administration would've plopped people like this under the jail as terrorists if they'd tried to show Bush as Hitler and parade around molesting people at the post office. Sign would have been more apt for him than Obama, that's for sure, but still the wrong way to go about protest. LaRouche endorsed violence against those who disagree with him (yeah, I had to look him up, too), so watch your back. It's not easy being a free democracy sometimes. Thanks again for your contribution gslick - yours and those like you.

Ms. Chris, you struck a chord with me. Although I've met a few Canadian customs agents who were total jerks everyone else is quite nice. I always notice the enanced rudeness levels when I return to the US. It's the same in Mexico, everyone is so nice while you are there and then back over the river and it's about fifty percent worse.

What's concerning is both men looked "normal" (whatever that is). When I told them I did not agree with them, they were not argumentative but no longer interested in me. There were several other people there though listening intently to them, signing a petition, & picking up pamphlets. When I asked them if they were from Wimberley, they smiled or was it smirk, & said they were "Americans".
