Just read the article in the paper about the petition presented to the Council. Pretty impressive that 574 peple thought it was a bad idea.Even more impressive was the Mayor's arrogance. In his own words,"it's a done deal" I was suprised to learn that the Mayor knows everyone who lives in the City of Wimberley, that's about the only way for him to determine tha "only" about a hundred of the signatures were from citizens. Also surprised to learn that only citizens of Wimberley ever use City streets. Mr/ Mayor, this smacks of 1950s south Texas political misdoings. Using $155K of everyones money to only benifit about a dozen homes. It does not pass the smell test.

One Las Flores resident reportedly said, “people were crashing into my yard …. People were cursing at my children”. I seriously doubt that story and others just as melodramatic but the City Council seemed to be swayed. 574 names on a petition against the closing and the Mayor discounts it out of hand? Why all of a sudden is a micro-minority believed over a significant number of citizens? It IS like South Texas in the 50s and 60s but they did a better job of covering it up. Mayor Bob had better watch out, it seems pretty darn easy to get an election overturned or a candidate re-called in Little Wimberley town. All the complainers now smell blood in the water so stay tuned for more lying and drama from others that want to let their kids play in the city streets.
