Anyone have any insight as to the four low flying cargo aircraft Sunday afternoon around 12:30 or so?

My husband, a pilot, saw them and thought they were military approx. 1,000 ft. agl (above ground level). One flew almost right over us, Wimberley city limits, and the others were more west around the city heading south. Possibly a low altitude training mission (or maybe looking for terrorists in Wimberley. (:

C-130s doing training runs from either Randolph or Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio. They are awesome to watch!

C-130s have an awesome sound; we call it the Sound of Freedom. I have lived around a lot of Air Force Bases and I never tire of it. My favorite is the B-1 Bomber takeoff with full AB.

Wow, this is really a case of perceived pleasure. I thought that was a disturbing, annoying, intrusive, noisy invasion of peace and quiet. I resented it on the part of our peaceful area and even the wildlife. Another example of arrogant American military, IMO.Obviously, since I'm not ex-military, I don't associate all those warm fuzzy feelings with that racket and get the charge you guys did. My definition of awesome has become the few quiet spots that still exist here and there. This one is less and less. Different strokes...

You are one of the protected, that obviously has no idea what serving your Country means. But the Freedoms you enjoy are bought by others who heard the call to serve. The service members for generations have given others the comfort of a blanket of security, to do and think what ever they wish without any worry from others. If you ever get the chance, stop and thank a young service member or veteran or for that matter, an old geezer veteran too! The sound of Military aircraft is very comforting to me and others in my family.

Got family that fly CW-130s, but they seemed too low for a populated area.

Back when I was of the age of service we got the call to serve in the form of a draft card.

I will mention that I have beloved family members who served. It was still noisy and possibly dangerous to dense areas. Sometimes it's hard to get perspective. Right?

It is the sound of freedom and it is beautiful.I guess what the FAA and the Air Force think is sparsely populated area and what residents of western Hays county think are two different things. I'm not as familiar with the FARs as I once was, but I believe that where we live is not considered a populated area by those rules. As far as dangerous, no more so than normal level flight. A C130, properly equipped can fly "nap of the earth" at treetop level following every dip and spike in the terrain with no pilot input. It's a beautiful thing to behold to be hiking on a mountain trail and have a C130 that you're looking down upon pop out of a valley. Arrogant military? I don't think so. I would rather have them well trained in their missions from training flights in Central Texas than heading into a theater of operations without that training. Like I said, it's the sound of freedom, and it should be music to our ears.

I'm entitled to own opinion and I don't exactly enjoy the noise. I also don't like the noise of helicopters flying right over either. I prefer the quiet. This doesn't mean that I don't support those who have done time in our military. I also don't agree that every time our military has had to go fight that it had anything to do with my freedom. It had more to do with politics and power. Don't get mad now. I'm entitled to my perspective.

They are welcome to fly over my house any time they want. There's nothing quite like the sounds of warbirds be they old or new.

Well nothing is quite as fun as those herds of motorcycles that rumble through the valley. They get the dogs to barking and the babies crying and wake up all the geezers taking naps. Now that is freedom!

Or the sound of a rap song coming from the river filling the night with the sound of cussing.
