Any day now we will get to see the most innocent of natures miracles. The new baby fawns should be arriving soon. Photographers, get your camera's ready! I had a great time last season photographing these precious babies. I'm entering a few of my shots in competition at the rodeo in our former hometown. I can't wait. So far this year the shots I've gotten of the hummingbirds and the wildflowers have been great. Anyone else here enjoy photographing our beautiful surroundings?

Unfortunately, we'll see several that have been hit by cars. They get crazy near the road and act like squirrels, just running in all directions.

And don't forget the ones that you see alone are not to be touched. Mom is just off feeding and has not abandoned them.

On Saturday afternoon, I had the unhappy task of removing a dead fawn from in front of my house. It was apparently hit by a car and I moved it to a clearing on my property so that nature could do its grizzly task of cleanup. By today, the vultures had done their work. The really sad thing was the mother doe hung around her fawn Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday, she wouldn’t leave it as if she expected it to get up and prance away. This is so sad, please be careful, these little guys aren’t as experienced with cars as their elders.

Very very sad.....all momma's have feelings and can think. I agree we must all drive much more cautiously and keep an eye out for the babies.....I look forward to photographing them and their antics when they begin to play with the other fawns.....but from a distance.

Well, it's been a month since I posted about the baby fawns. This season they fawns in my area seem to be more protected and hidden, and way more cautious which I like. I did get the opportunity a couple of weeks ago to photograph one who ran out of the wood line, not realizing it. So far we have 4 of the little precious gifts from God that hang out together, but they are NOT coming out into the open, in my area, like they did last year. That's a good thing, but I sure do enjoy seeing them. They brighten my day.......
