Pies Galore! Annual Pie Social from the Wimberley Institute of Cultures Fun for the Whole Family
The Pie Social Takes Place in April
If you love delicious pie and are looking for fun in the warmth of an early spring day in Texas, the Wimberley Pie Social is the event for you!
This delightful event began in 1990 when a small group of men and women of the Wimberley Valley assembled at the Dobie House on Old Kyle Road near Wimberley Square to provide the community with an old fashioned "pie social." It is now an annual family event offering pie slices for sale from several hundred home-made pies along with other foods, musical entertainment, competitive pie baking contests, a quilt raffle, and items for sale.
Admission is free, and everyone is invited to come and be a part of the event.
Each year, the many pies are donated by local cooks for sale by the slice under the pie canopies, and they are there for all to enjoy. Also available for purchase are hot dogs, chips, drinks, and snow cones.
Many of the pies are entries to the pie competition, which this year includes four categories:
1. Specialty
2. Fruit
3. Nut
4. Cream or Chocolate.
Part of the entertainment will take place when the winning pie in each category is auctioned off to the Pie Social attendees by the auctioneer for the day. Anyone interested in submitting a pie for competition may get a submission form at the Wimberley Visitor's Center.

A plus event in the Pie Social program will be an adult pie eating contest, a competition to see who will be the winner in a race to wolf down an entire pie.
The Wimberley Pie Social is sponsored by WIC, the Wimberley Institute of Cultures, which is a non-profit organization formed to recognize and protect the natural, historical, archaeological, and cultural resources of the Wimberley Valley. WIC strives to preserve these resources through educational and social activities for both young and adult members of our community.
