We have never charged students to participate in any of our programs and sustain our efforts through donations.

Our one and one-half hour after-school workshops are held at various campuses on different days of the week. Student enrollment consistently fills very quickly. Our content primarily focuses on the visual arts but at times includes music and song-writing, poetry and prose, dance and drama. Our workshops for younger students typically have a 1 adult to 6 student ratio to insure that every child receives the attention he or she deserves. In addition to our workshops, hundreds of children have participated in our special events, Cultural Art assemblies, student art exhibits, and field trips.

We are also the fortunate recipients of the University of Texas Performing Arts Outreach Program, enabling us to provide many of our older students with complementary tickets and transportation to attend major cultural art events in performance halls that they otherwise might not have the financial means to attend. 

A strong philosophy of our organization is that it is beneficial for young people to become involved with their community. We regularly encourage and facilitate our students to contribute their creative talents and artwork to other community organizations. AFTH has carefully and successfully developed community partnerships and resources. We are fortunate to have a very large volunteer base and an abundance of talented artists who value mentoring youth. AFTH works with over 150 volunteers each year.

Since 1999, AFTH has continuously worked with large groups of students in the cultural art programs we offer. Student participation in our numerous programs through the years has reached over 2200 students.
