With chilling winds, temperatures in the 30s, and a
steady downpour of freezing rain, the first Market Day of
2007 came roaring in like a... well... like a Lion.
Anyone who stepped outside on that day would agree that
the folks who rose early and drove through the rain to Lions
Field to make sure Wimberley Market Day happened, rain or
shine, have a special commitment to the event that means so
much to so many. Shoppers love Market Day because of the
bargains and the fun. Friends come to Market Day together
and view it as a social highlight. Vendors count on
Wimberley Market Day to introduce and sell their wares.
But there are others...those who benefit from the
proceeds of Wimberley Market Days. These are local charities
and organizations who regularly receive donations from the
Wimberley Lions Club, most of which are raised at Market
Day. These are well and truly served.
Not every volunteer was caught by the camera on a
blustery day that would've kept even Winnie the Pooh inside,
but all, including those you see here, had cold toes, cold
noses, and very, very warm hearts.
You're warmly invited to the next Market Day,
which is likely to be held as almost all of them are...in
wonderful weather.
