Mission Statement
The mission of Wimberley Adoption Group & Rescue (WAG Rescue) is to come to the aid of abandoned, neglected, unclaimed and surrendered dogs and puppies in and around the Wimberley area.
WAG Rescue provides medical care for these animals and places them in a nurturing foster environment where they receive training and learn socialization skills until they are ready to be adopted into loving, permanent homes. WAG Rescue promotes the compassionate treatment of all animals and seeks to educate the public about responsible pet ownership and advocates spay/neutering of pets in order to prevent overpopulation and much animal suffering.

River Dog Ranch
River Dog Ranch (formerly Wimberley Kennel) is now now owned and operated by Elisha Fontenot, who worked with founder and fellow dog lover Laura Macdonald for several years, before purchasing the kennel. Elisha has been involved in dog rescue, training, and advocacy for many years. Running a kennel is her "dream job," and she looks forward to sharing that love with you, and your animals.
Your dog will be happy to know that our kennel is completely air conditioned, heated and that there are comfy Kuranda beds in each kennel to make sure your little guy or gal is as comfortable as possible. Cats are also welcome.
Tours are available for prospective customers.

Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation
At Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation you will find
animal Caretakers, Apprentices, and Volunteers that care for the animals in our Rehabilitation Hospital & Nursery. Each animal is given exactly what he or she needs to get back to where they belong — which is the wild. We use species-specific formulas and diets, keep them warm and dry, and minimize hands-on contact.

WRR have two locations where they provide rehabilitation for injured or orphaned animals - 137 Earl Street in San Antonio and their main site in Kendalia, where they have 212 acres including a hospital and sanctuary. They work diligently to return native species back to the wild, and our non-native animals find permanent residence there for the rest of their days. Over 700 animals call WRR home and they care for over 7000 lives (these are the native species who are brought to the WRR ill, orphaned or injured and who are, assuming they survive, ultimately set free) annually. They also have a 24 hour Emergency Hotline (830-336-2725) to answer questions or give advice managing human-animal encounters in a nonlethal manner.
