The Home of Gary and Brenda Welch Combines Love for Outdoors With Art
After spending the weekend with friends in Wimberley the Welches fell in love with the area. "This is where we want to live" Gary and Brenda Welch told each other six and half years ago as they drove through a small neighborhood with hidden homes outside of Wimberley. A year after purchasing their lot in Wimberley Ranch Estates they began building their custom home. The Welches incorporated some universal features to accommodate a wheelchair in their home as one of their best friends was confined to a wheelchair. One of those features is a five foot wide hall that goes the length of the front of the home.
The home is decorated with artwork pieces picked up on their travels to Kenya, New Orleans, New York, Rome, Charleston, London, and Italy to name a few. There are inherited pieces and pieces by local artist Tom Bender. Gary and Brenda particularly love their outdoor space and spend as much time outdoors as in the great room. To make the outdoors as comfortable as possible, they have installed solar screens, a misting system, and overhead heaters.
