TALENTED ARTIST IN RESIDENCE AT ASH HOME
After years of searching for just the right waterfront property, Donald and Barbara Ash were overcome with a sense of "coming home" when they discovered this site on
G.W. Haschke Lane for their retirement home.
Built through the sheetrock stage by Bill Dunn, the family put in the flooring and did the finish work and painting, but contracted the tile work in the kitchen and bathrooms.
In 2002 they moved into their newly built, spacious two-story country home where every nook and cranny reveals a versatile, talented artist in residence. Barbara's eclectic paintings and handcrafted crosses grace the walls; dozens of exquisite hand-carved, hand-painted Old World Santas represent a decade of work; and the western mural in the upstairs family room showcases the combined talent of Barbara and daughter Penny.
Outdoors along the driveway, the family's past Christmas trees have been replanted to create a lifelong memory of treasured times. A beautiful back porch and courtyard - designed and built by Don and son Kevin - spans the length of the home. A lush, meticulously groomed lawn slopes gently to the Blanco River.
