The 21st Annual Wimberley Community Civic Club Home Tour:
The McDonald Home

Sponsored by the Wimberley Community Civic Club, the 2008 Hill Country Homes Tour for the Holidays will be held on Friday & Saturday, November 21 & 22, 10 AM to 5 PM. Six unique homes are  featured, delighting and inspiring visitors.

MCDONALD HOME IS AN ELEGANT YET PEACEFUL RETREAT

The Tuscan style residence of Bruce and Kimberly McDonald was designed by R. Dale Dibello of Eubanks Group Architects, Houston and built by Bill Dunn Construction, Wimberley. Dressed in autumn finery, an idyllic courtyard garden welcomes you to this elegant, yet family-friendly country home located on Wimberley Ranch Drive.

The cheery, spacious great room and state-of-the-art culinary space are designed to include guests in comfortable, casual entertaining, from preparing meals to dining at the generous center island to relaxing in front of the stone fireplace. Arched glass doorways lead outdoors to the loggia, another inviting living space where southern Hill Country vistas are enjoyed in year-round comfort.

The home is approximately 3,800 square feet with an additional 1,000 feet of under-roof furnished outdoor living and dining space, and 3,000 square feet of private courtyard garden space. The home was designed and built with the Hill Country landscape and climate in mind, utilizing earth toned exterior colors and siting the home to take advantage of northern and southern light exposure while minimizing the eastern and western heat exposure.

The 24 acre property was previously part of a 165 acre ranch, and was designed and developed to now include 7 main residences in a closely-knit community on 125 acres of wildlife managed land.

The McDonald family credits providence with their arrival at this property. Previously residents of Houston, the family began its quest for a peaceful retreat property in 2004. Anticipating a lengthy search process, the McDonalds were pleasantly surprised to have their hearts captured by this property on their first day of viewing land.

Within a year of enjoying the property as a weekend retreat from Houston, the McDonalds decided to make Wimberley their home full time and moved into the log cabin guest house already on the property in the summer of 2005. Construction of the Tuscan home began by September 2006 and the family moved into the home in April 2007.
