The Gina and Tom Fulkerson Home
For Gina Fulkerson it was, and is, all about the river. She felt so strongly about the property that she phoned her husband Tom and let him know that even though she hadn’t seen the home’s interior, she was making an offer. Once you walk through the front door and see the sweeping view of green before you, it isn’t hard to understand why.
Newly remodeled, the house was originally built with a screened in porch spanning the entire length. However after living there for almost six years, Tom and Gina decided the river needed to be an integral part of their life during all seasons. The result is a glorious expanse of natural materials that have made this space a true great room. Windows line the river wall while a diagonal expanse of travertine graces the floors. Furniture is upholstered in natural linen and the clean lines of the door moldings have the feel of Stickley furniture.
The new kitchen is at the heart of this great room and is patterned after one Gina and Tom saw in the movie, It’s Complicated. Remember Meryl Streep’s wonderful kitchen? Gina took the idea and made it one better by skirting the island and having two sinks, one on the island and another opposite it, under the window.
The master bath is a study in luxury, stone, and wood, containing one of the most sleekly beautiful soaker tubs you will ever have the privilege to see. Upstairs are two rooms for the teenagers in the house, a place to just hang out, when not playing a game of bocce ball on the court above the river.
For after all, it is all about the river.
