Hacienda Antepasados
Hacienda Antepasados was originally designed and built a mere five years ago. The construction of the hacienda employed several traditional Spanish Colonial techniques. The design of the hacienda was sparked by the owner’s vast collection of authentic architectural elements from the Spanish Colonial era. Some of these elements include hand-caved pavers featured in its traditional courtyard, clay tile roofs, and fenestrations that date back to the 17th century.
Since its purchase in 2010 the home has been masterfully refined inside and out by owner and designer Ryan Jackson, of Laird Jackson Design House, located in Austin. Envisioned as a getaway for family and friends Ryan designed indoor and outdoor habitats that push the traditional envelope and showcase his passion for various styles.
Still a hacienda in the truest sense, the interiors have been updated with his Jackson's soft, sophisticated color palette and he has filled it with family heirlooms and pieces procured from travels around the world. Two paintings by Felix Voltsinger, purchased in Santa Fe shortly after Ryan’s bid for the home was accepted, became the inspiration for the anticipated renovation. Voltsinger’s "Fallen Giants" now hangs over the wood-burning fireplace in the living room. The second work, titled "Lilly Pond," hangs in the large library and media room over a Biedermeier settee upholstered in a contemporary purple quilted silk.
Monumental 17th century doors open to a peaceful, sun-soaked courtyard where intriguing local and European antiquities are juxtaposed with modern Philippe Stark Louis Ghost chairs, Chester lighted sofas, Frank Gehry twist cubes, and bold outdoor fabrics.
The living room combines classic and modern pieces and creates a gracious space for entertainment. The vibrantly colored, talavera clad kitchen now includes old barn wood cupboards, an antique English cabinet from a menswear store in London, and all the amenities of a fully functional space.
The master bedroom’s pine floors painted a gloss white, king-sized bed with custom linens and adaptable lighting make for a true oasis. Across the courtyard are two elegantly appointed guest suites and a comfortable, yet multifunctional library / media room. An added outdoor bathroom fosters a unique balance between the indoors and the out of doors. Hill country landscaping surrounds an indulgent saltwater pool at the edge of a wet weather creek.
Hacienda Antepasados is sure to pay tribute to those who inspired Ryan to work and live his dream.
