Treadwells' Big Sky
Treadwells' Big Sky is located in the heart of the Blanco River Valley. The house is situated atop the "Divide," a ridge of hills that runs from Blanco to Pump Station Road in Wimberley. This ridge marks the highest elevation in Blanco and Hays counties. The Treadwells’ panoramic views span the likes of the Twin Sisters and the Devil’s Backbone.
This modest house was designed to take advantage of the panoramic view, and outdoor living as the main feature. Built in 2006, the home is warm and comfortable for an active family of five. The American flag that hangs in the stairwell has been in the family for over 60 years. The flag flew on family property at Buchanan Lake and has only 48 stars. The master bedroom was created as an escape from the hectic lifestyle of a young family. The custom faux finishes were done by Zita Designs out of Austin.
Adding to the décor, Big Sky will be decorated for the upcoming holidays with several pieces that are reminiscent of a New England Christmas: an antique snow sled, a New England Christmas Village, and a small nativity that was hand-carved from driftwood off the coast of Maine.
See the Treadwell home and six others on the 23rd annual Hill Country Home Tour, sponsored by the Wimberley Community Civic Club, November 19 and 20,
